Semtech launches new pon-x series chips for 10G PON ONU

Recently, Semtech, a leading supplier of high-performance analog, mixed signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, announced the launch of its pon-x series gn28l97, which integrates laser driver (LDD) and limiting amplifier (LA) for asymmetric 10g PON optical network terminals (onus).

Simon McCaul, senior marketing manager of Semtech signal integration products division, said: "10g PON technology is expected to start extensive deployment in 2020, and equipment manufacturers are increasingly eager for their products to meet the demand for high capacity and faster download rate. Gn28l97's programmability and flexibility can contribute to the growth of PON industry by promoting higher performance of equipment manufacturing at low cost. "

   gn28l97 is a fully integrated asymmetric combo chip, which integrates Semtech's unique automatic laser calibration technology and programmable 2.5G sending and 10g receiving signal paths. Low cost laser and avalanche photodiode (APD) performance is optimized using advanced eye shaping technology. This optimized design and integration can reduce the total cost of installing optical elements on the main ONU board.
